Let me clue you in Citibank
Posted on November 26th, 2008 No commentsMonday night I got a change in terms notice from Citibank. The interest rate on my credit card was being raised by 3 points to 15.99%. I could either opt out and have the balance due when my card expires (which keeps me at the rate I have now) or I could just accept the new rate. Being the asshole I am, I called to opt out. When I called I said something to the effect of “So you guys are in trouble and you are raising the rates of people that carry a balance, never pay late and have a 15 year history with your company.” I said it nicely, and the lady on the other end of the phone said “I know, I can’t say I know why they are doing it.”
This is just another slap in the face to me. I have a credit rating in the mid to high 700′s. I pay all of my debts. I also use my credit and pay it back, on time, although I carry a balance. I am what companies should want. I am doing what the government is trying to get other people to do. And what do I get for it? I get my tax dollars (or the new dollars being printed) going to bail out a bank that is in turn now charging me more for money I borrowed. In reality the rate hike was no big deal, I move my balance from card to card each year to get better rates as I pay it down, run it up, etc.
I have a shit load of cards, not as many as I did have, as it was getting tough to remember them all, so I canceled a few. I only keep a balance and use one at a time. If I wanted to be an asshole I could run up about 2-3 times my yearly salary and not pay it back like the other fucks in this country are doing. Am I doing that? Nope, I am paying them and only using them when I need to. Well not need, but want something a bit out of my price range.
This to me is like the drought in NC. I conserve water to help out, then they raise the price of water because everyone did it and revenue dropped. So in the credit crisis I am doing what they want, and they are making me pay tax dollars and interest points. Fuck that.

Here’s the deal
Posted on November 25th, 2008 No commentsSo the webhost I use got nailed by some spammy hijacking crap. It spread to all of the sites I hosted on there and even added a few FTP accounts to my service. Now what is not clear to me is exactly how it happened. I suspect their machine got hit, and when I enabled .htaccess files it spread like wild fire. It could be one of my WordPress sites got hit. I am just not sure. So I said F it, I dumped the entire webserver onto my laptop and will begin cleaning up some stuff and putting it back up. I might even move back to WordPress at some point, but I figured, for what I do, blogger will work for me. Hell I use Google Apps for just about everything else, as they match up with the iPhone rather well.
So now I have the blog setup. I will tweak it as I have time and get things looking the way I want.
