  • Yahoo Movies Unbelievable Moments of 2008

I just looked over the list and I have to say.. umm stupid?

I think the only one I agreed with was in the Australia movie, something about cattle. The rest of the list is made up of movies that are based in fantasy. When you base a movie in fantasy anything can happen. You have to ignore physics and what you know about the world. Godzilla is a giant lizard.. with blue eyes and radioactive fire breath. When they remade the movie they used a more realistic looking CGI lizard, but they missed this point, this is not about “realism” this is about a giant freaking lizard trashing a town. Ghostbusters got it right, if you are going to go monster, make the monster the Stay Puft Marshmellow man, you are already at the level of anything can happen!

  • It’s the most useless work day of the year…

… assuming you think tomorrow is the most wonderful day of the year. No one is here, I am doing some emailing and puttering around the office but that is about it. I don’t know why the place is even open. The company does realize coming in Friday is a waste, but then again if it is not raining I will be out at a transmitter site working. Don’t these fucktards know Melissa gave me Force Unleashed last night and the galaxy far far away needs me to use the dark side to throw Tie Fighters at both Rebel and Empire Scum! (Plus I have 4 editions of Blade Runner to watch now, popcorn to eat, GH sleep gear to break in and a sundry of other things)

The funniest gift of the night was this Cat Pencil Sharpener. In other cat news Melissa got Az a cat bed which is now her new favorite place. She curls up in that thing like Luke in a Taun-Taun.

  • Why I quit reading the news by Chuck Reisinger

Posted on December 22nd, 2008 admin No comments

I have quit reading newspapers and online news sites as much as I used to. I just can’t take it anymore, it makes me want to find the nearest political figure and slap them with a used tampon. I do watch the evening news more but I kind of zone out on the bailout and certain stories about the economy, but Nightline last week and an AP story today have me pissed again.

The Nightline story had to do with the Federal program to help people avoid foreclosure. Something like 12,000 applications, but only 120 something people have been helped. Seems that no one knows how the program works and that it is so filled with restrictions that no one qualifies. The application is long and all of the standard “federal government epic fail” bullshit.

Then today I read the AP story about the bailout money not being tracked or it’s usage being tracked by the banks. We have given the banks hundreds of billions, but they do not have to account for that money. Last time I checked, when I borrowed money from a bank, I had to tell them how I was using it, once for a car, once for a house. I even had to disclose such things as how much money I made, where my money went (in terms of rent/mortgage, credit cards, etc) and I have to pay the money back on a schedule, if I miss paying back the money on time, well I lose things, like my car or house.

For the people that cannot see the funny link in these two stories, it is this. The government gave money to the banks that fucked people over. The money was approved and handed over quickly, with no questions asked. When the government went to help people directly, they money is tied up in red tape and a long approval process that is flawed. Personally I hate the bailout and helping people with foreclosures, but if you are going to do it, do it right. It is not that fucking hard. The people should be helped before the banks, but in this case, helping the people directly helps the banks.

On Sunday Morning (the CBS program) Ben Stein’s commentary this week nailed it. The government is flawed. It will take forever for them to get it right and correct the mistakes. It is up to the people to take care of themselves. He basically said that everyone not affected by the recession should be out spending. I agree, I have gone all cash since the recession but I have not cut back on spending. I have not gone crazy spending money, but I take advantage of sales and try to spend the same as I always do. He also mentioned it is time to give to charity and that includes pet shelters. Everybody needs help and as the stories mentioned above point out, the government is failing. The people need to help each other, so just do it, give a few bucks, spend a few bucks and don’t forget the crackwhores, they need love too.

  • X-Files: I want to Believe

Yeah I wanted to believe this movie would be good, but it is a big stinking pile of shit. They should have just let the series die. Of course they let the series die a slow death that no one watched so why not make a movie that continues that streak. They ruined the dynamic of the show in a major way and I hate them for it. Hate is a strong word, but this movie was really bad.

    Other bad things:

Called HP tech support this morning, horrible. The voice prompts just keep getting longer. Then it is 15 hops to get to “Harry” in India. Harry is one of the best fake tech support names I have gotten. He almost made me think he was American with the “Merry Christmas” at the end of the call. I think next time I will go on and on about how good hamburgers taste, maybe make a crack about sacred cows tasting good with cheese, pickle and sesame seed bun. I just got an email from Harry, I will not say his real first name, but I will say his last name is Kumar… he just went up in cool points.

Gears of War have two levels I hate with a passion. The first is shooting down mortar shells in the beginning. When I want that kind of action I fire up my copy of Missile Command in the Xbox Arcade. The second is shoot 6 Reavers with a shitty turret. When I want that kind of action I fire up the NES and play Duck Hunt. Gears is best when you are not dealing with crappy vehicles and time wasting challenges that take pure luck to get past.
