Target Ships Clock in Box Fit For Human Habitation
Posted on April 30th, 2009 No comments
via consumerist.comThis is one of my pet peeves. Packing something small in a huge box. I actually remember the first item that made me shake my head. I had to buy a single light for my rear brake bar thing on my truck. For some reason I got it at the dealer because I could not find one the worked or some such deal. Anyway the bulb is a sub-minature, like a Christmas tree bulb, and the single lamp came in a box that was about an inch square by a about 3 inches long, no other packing material. In contrast when we order these at work for use in audio consoles they come 10 to a bag, no box around them, I have yet to find one broken.
The reason it pisses me is the waster in material and cost. There is no reason for it. Amazon is famous for this also, but last night I was pleased to find my new shoes came in a box just larger than the shoe box my shoes were in.

Swine flu creates controversy on Twitter – CNN.com
Posted on April 27th, 2009 No commentsThe swine flu outbreak is spawning debate about how people get information during health emergencies — especially at a time when news sources are becoming less centralized.
via cnn.comDear major media companies,
I get 24 hour news when I get 2 inches of snow. I get hype of only 2 parties during elections and the debates you sponsor. Go fuck yourselves. I want my news and commentary to be decentralized.
Sincerely,

via amazon.comI like this shoe. It is made from some recycled and sustainable materials. The company (Simple Shoes) also tries to be ethical. These shoes, on amazon are about $10 CHEAPER than Chuck Taylor All Stars. I am thinking I will try these.

It was a week of snot
Posted on April 24th, 2009 No commentsNorth Carolina has to be ranked pretty damn high on the list of states that cause snot production in the spring due to the mating habits of vegetation. I really took an ass kicking this week, right as I thought I might have dodged it this year. I finally found a mixture of two OTC allergy medicines that keep the snot at bay. Sure it makes me groggy and foggy but not having to stick tampons in my nose is nice.
It really took a lot out of me in terms of motivation this week. I still need to finish reading the finance documents and form my “committe” for the city council run. I hope to get that done next week. I also have a bunch of other work I want to get done this weekend, but other obligations will prevent this from happening. Life is like that sometimes.
Sunday marks 2 years of Meslissa and I being together. I really have no idea how she does it, but my guess is she ignores me a lot and just nods and smiles. Most people do this, it does not hurt my feelings.
